Surgical Oncology at Rabin Medical Center

The Surgical Oncology Devision offers surgical and combined modality therapy for various malignant diseases. We perform surgery for
colon cancer, rectal cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, melanoma, sarcoma, breast cancer, and peritoneal surface malignancies.

The peritoneal surface malignancies center
offers multidisciplinary approach for this challenging group of diseases. Patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis are evaluated by a specialized group of experts in the field. Treatment decisions are taken after multiple discussions. A combination of surgery (cytoreduction) with intra-operative heated chemotherapy (HIPEC), early post-operative chemotherapy (EPIC) and systemic therapy is offered to eligible patients. Cytoreductive surgery with HIPEC may be a good treatment option for patients with peritoneal spread of the following cancers: colon cancer, cancer of the appendix, pseudomyxoma peritonei, peritoneal mesothelioma, and ovarian cancer.

The Surgical Oncology service conducts clinical and basic research in various cancer types. A team of clinical researches provides the infrastructure for the participation in international multi-center clinical trials and Surgical Oncology Laboratory has the environment and expertise to perform research in the biology of cancer.
